Like many solutions to seemingly intractable problems, the Park & Slide concept sprang from necessity.
With a 'double' garage that was inaccessible to two family sized cars and a planning application for a larger garage rejected, Ken was left with the problem of how to keep both his family's vehicles safe, particularly while away on holiday.
With the further incentive of a hefty insurance premium if he just accepted the situation, the former managing director conceived his own solution - a large slide that would allow the first car to be pushed snugly against the wall so the second car could simply be driven into the space that was created.
With the help of friend and former colleague, engineer David, the first Park & Slide prototype was designed, built, successfully tested and patented and the Park and Slide business was established.
The initial focus was on the development of a number of systems to realize the massive potential of such a uniquely simple, flexible and relatively low cost system of maximizing parking space in numerous domestic and commercial situations.
Ken and Dave, the two principals in Park and Slide, have both held senior positions in major organizations, which could afford to recruit top quality human resources.
In setting up Park and Slide, they managed to ensure access to the same high levels of expertise by recruiting a team of associates with the wide range of technical, legal, business and marketing skills necessary to do justice to the international potential of their products.
